Himalayan Eco Adventures (HEA) offer exclusive horseback riding treks to the most remote corners of the Western Himalaya.The horses we use are the sturdy ponies from Zanskar and Spiti, reknown for being sure footed and good natured. Valued attributes on high mountain trails. We offer a number of trail options that meander up and down through dense pine forest’s and alpine pastures; to the deserts and lakes on the roof of the world in Ladakh, Rupshu and Spiti.

Across high mountain passes and over glaciers. the trails and paths have been used for centuries by the local people as the way to remote grass lands, villages and monasteries. Spectacular waterfalls and beautiful deep blue high altitude lakes provide stunning settings to pitch the camps and for the horses to graze. Some of these areas were until recently restricted to foreigners due to sensitivities concerning Tibet border areas. It will be an experience of a life time; You will interact with the Himalayan people, Many of whom still live an authentic nomadic life, their lives intrinsically bound to the harsh land and their livestock. You will have the opportunity to see such ancient skills as spinning and weaving and the herding and milking of their large flocks of pashmina goats and yaks.
